From unique bindings to serial production

La Tranchefile’s reputation for excellence in the field of custom bookbinding, fine traditional hand binding and the restoration of antiquarian books is well-established.

It also designs and produces bindings in larger quantities:

Soft cover German binding or perfect binding.
Pages sewn or glued together in a flexible cover with or without folded-over end flaps. The cover can be hot stamped or embossed.

Hard cover case binding or commercial binding.
Pages may be sewn or glued together with a flat or rounded back and a headband or ribbon. A cover of cloth, imitation leather or printed or laminated paper can be decorated with embossing or hot stamping.

This innovative binding is simple in design, easy to open and remarkably solid. The cover can either be rigid—of decorated or unfinished cardboard—or flexible, in cloth or leather, and can be hot stamped or embossed.
